Emerald Knights

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is a six-part interlocking story, the first five parts feature different individual Green Lanterns. The final segment is about the Green Lantern Corps facing off against Krona, a rouge Guardian responsible for all entropy in the universe.

The movie functions as a sort of anthology of stories as told by different writers and directors for each story. A young Arisia joins the Corps just as Krona, is attempting to destroy Oa, home world of the Green Lantern Corps. Arisia is told several stories about some of the men and women she’ll be fighting with, as she prepares for battle. The stories are told from the trenches of battle as Krona’s moves ever closer to Oa.

Kilowog, Mogo, Abin Sur, Laria and the first ring bearers are the subjects of the stories told. Pacing and action are seamless throughout the majority of the film. Die-hard fans will recognize most of the stories from the comics. But the stories have been re-interpreted or expanded, to include plot twists and surprises for even veteran readers. The movie captures the atmosphere of Green Lantern perfectly and is a great way to introduce friends or loved ones who are not as familiar with Green Lantern to the mythos of one of the greatest groups of heroes.

If this movie has any downside, it is that so focused on the rich diversity of the Green Lantern Corps that it doesn't give Hal Jordan a chance to shine as an exemplary Green Lantern himself. But with a full length live action movie staring Hal Jordan just a few days away, I think it's only a minor issue.

This movie offers a great look at some of fan's favorite Green Lanterns, if you enjoyed Green Lantern: First Flight or just tales of heroes saving the day, this is a great movie to watch and a great chapter in the history of the Corps.

I saw this last night. It's REALLY good. A suggested must-see for any fan. And an even BIGGER must-see for anyone just getting into the crazy Green Lantern universe.
